Mentoring – one on one support
I am loving my career but want to work out my next steps with someone who understands what I am going through.
Mentoring is frequently provided in-company. Most of us at some point have learnt from a more experienced member of staff, however, sometimes turning to someone in your company isn’t an option. This is especially true if you are considering a career move. I have experience as a mentor, with more than 30 years’ experience as a female engineer, working in multi-national companies, in many different job roles.
I often find women in particular struggle to find a trusted mentor within their company, or in their friendship group. If this is you, then perhaps I can help us an external mentor. I have positive experience mentoring women in roles from engineers to accountants and solicitors .
I am passionate about promoting STEM subjects (I am a STEM ambassador) and encouraging all young people, especially girls to investigate a career in engineering. I recently spoke at Appetite for Engineering, a trade organisation for engineers in the Food Industry, about the thinking errors that both young people and companies have regarding getting women into engineering. If you are a young engineer or are looking at whether engineering is for you, or if you want a speaker to inspire others to go into this field then contact me.
